Only traditional vegetarian meals and snacks are prepared at Vanya. This is prepared on the ‘aduppu’ The dining area is situated next to the butler house with four sides of the opened. The top will be covered using plated coconut leaves. ‘Randhal’ (lantern lamp) is used to light up the dining area and create a romantic ambience. The benchand desk are made of bamboo and cane.
On your arrival at the Tree House, you will be served a traditional cup of ginger coffee in a clay cup to soothe your throat. This serves as medicinal remedy to relieve your throat of any allergies or infections. Also, you are given a natural dose of energy in the form of a tender coconut water drink to energize your body.
For breakfast you will be served among a choice of Tapioca, Yam, Colocasia, Purple Yam, Boiled Bananas and Eggs, Black Coffee or Black Tea. The idea behind these dishes is that in the past, people earned their livelihood by living off the land and such a breakfast would give them the right start to the day by providing them with the needed nutrition.
Lunch will consist of Organic Rice, Avial, Sambar,Moru Curry, Curd, Thoran, Pickle, Jackfruit/Banana. The items in the lunch are so prepared to help keep a clean and healthy digestive system.
Snacks such as Leaf Ada/ Kozhukatta, Black Tea/ Black Coffee is served as you enjoy the cool evening breeze at Vanya and listen to the chirping of birds as they head towards their nests for the night.
Dinner will consist of a modest rice soup, green gram thoran, fried pappadam, pickle and bananas. This is very much like the people of this region in ancient times when theywould retire to bed with a very modest and light meal.
